The Abyss is a strange other-realm, populated by wicked creatures locked in an eternal battle with each other. Whenever they are directed to fight the outside world, it is a time of woe for all civilised races, for the Abyssals recognise no allies.

Mass incursions of the forces of the Abyss are thankfully rare, for when they do happen, the suffering is terrible. Pouring forth in waves of demonic creatures on foot and in the air, an Abyssal horde may only ever be stopped at great cost and after much bloodshed.

Greatest of the Archfiends is the so-called Lord of Lies, who has risen to prominence by his very deviousness. Such is his cunning that it is said the Lord of Lies is an avatar of Oskan himself; a means for the Father of Lies to escape the Eternal Dark and experience conquest in the mortal realm, for a limited time at least.

Although rare, the incursions of the Abyss’ armies into the mortal world are a very real threat. These rageful demons will cut a swathe of destruction through any civilised realm, burning everything to ash with their hellfire. These invasions are only ever stopped at great cost to the defenders.

The leaders of the armies of the Abyss are numerous and cunning. From the fifth circle come the militant Champions, the war leader of the abyssal host. The Seductresses are the vicious master of torments from the third circle. Meanwhile, the flames of the fourth circle are home to the rageful Efreet and the insane Warlocks, wielders of infernal magicks. When these being march to war alongside the forces of the Abyss, they spell the doom of mortals.

The Nagarri are an unholy blend of demon and snake who plot and scheme for dominance. It is thought they were once Archfiends themselves, before falling to some dark curse. Now they will stop at nothing to restore themselves to power.

Some Abyssal Champions spend so long fighting relentless wars against their kin that their bodies twist and warp as surely as their vicious minds. They grow into towering beasts known as Berserkers, for whom the hunting of prey and the slaughtering of foes is meat and drink. Berserkers are marked by their regenerative powers, allowing them to heal the most grievous wounds, so that they might better continue the eternal battle.
