Dropfleet Commander 2.0 Pre Order Now LIVE!!

Updated: Sep 13

After almost a decade on the offensive against the vile alien Scourge, the United Colonies of Mankind are battle-scarred but unbroken. Its Reconquest, a grand endeavour to reclaim its heartlands and Earth itself, hangs in the balance. A mighty new generation of utilitarian warships and vengeful soldiers rush to the frontlines, in spite of that UCM’s alliances with other human factions are crumbling, the parasites are fighting back viciously, and a previously unknown threat has emerged.

Get Started

As the war rages fiercer than ever, it falls on you to guide your faction and help shape the future of the galaxy. For space remains a constant battleground of clashing forces; a tumultuous stage where tactics and co-ordination are all that stand between you and disaster.

Dropfleet Commander is a game of planet-bound fleet combat in the far future. Command fleets of colossal warships as your tactical decisions shape the course of battle... and the galaxy as a whole.

Written by David J Lewis, Scott Burns and Robin Gillie, this 64 page rulebook contains the 2.0 version rules. With everything you need to deploy your forces, including scenarios to play and help building your fleet for games. Take your battles into the atmosphere and help (or stop) the Reconquest!

These scenario cards contain all the components needed to generate the random scenarios found in the Dropfleet Commander rulebook. This set includes Deployment Types, Approach Types, Layouts, Variants, and Objectives you can use to create an astronomical amount of different scenarios for your games of Dropfleet Commander.

The scenarios you can generate with these cards can be tailored to your desired style of game. Want to play a balanced, competitive game? These cards have you covered, just combine components that favour both players equally. If you want to lay siege to orbital shipyards or shipping lanes in deep space, these cards have you covered.

Also included are 3 double-sided quick reference cards for Orders, Explosion & Crippling effects, as well as Dropsites & Features.

"Closing in on target. The city looks awful, even from up here. Get ready to launch ground assets. Take that city, men - show those Scourge who is in charge round here!"

This set contains a whole load of Sector tokens! In 5 different styles, these fully 3D tokens are a great upgrade to your cardboard ones. There are 5 designs of tokens. These features are the Military Outpost, Orbital Defence Gun, Comms Station, Power Plant and Hangar.

In 2679 there are few planets that aren't as busy above the surface as they are on it. Some have thousands of orbiting stations, and there are even more in the depths of space, setup as remote docking stations or hubs from which to launching mining or exploration missions.

This incredible multi-part hard plastic set is a fully modular custom space station building kit - a first for tabletop gaming! It can be assembled in a virtually infinite number of ways in a massive variety of forms, shapes and sizes to fit your imagination.

All eight cruiser-sized space stations in the image gallery can be built from a single set, but these are just examples. A much larger number of smaller stations could be constructed or, alternatively, players could use the entire set to build one massive orbital dock! If you wanted to create something truly gargantuan, multiple sets can also be combined.

Every one of its many and varied parts is sumptuously detailed. Superstructure, towers, comms dishes, gantries, cooling vanes, gun turrets, laser weapons and missile pods are all part of the kit, giving you an unrivalled degree of creative options.

Space stations are integral to many scenarios in Dropfleet Commander - highly appropriate for the game's orbital combat setting!

Launch assets (fighters, bombers and torpedoes) are important elements in games of Dropfleet Commander - both for protecting your ships and annihilating your opponents!

Bioficers

The Bioficers—ancient, corrupted artificial intelligences—have observed mankind’s aptitude for cataclysmic violence, and it pleases them. Biology is their clay. They can vaporise it, ingest it, and shape it. Their bio-drones are woven in minutes and might be any shape that nightmares can conjure.

Their ships are uniquely advanced, focused, and utterly lethal. They have no grand strategy and no goal besides revelling in war and the slow suffering of capable prey. They are a factor apart and may be the greatest threat sentient life has ever faced.

Bioficer ships of light tonnage are uniquely advanced, efficient killers. Often in the vanguard of Bioficer incursions, these terrors were among the first encountered by the UCM, which was not reassuring. Their corvettes are the largest and most powerful type known, their cutters can be especially aggressive, and their lighters even offer limited drop capability.

Every weapon utilised by their destroyers is formidable, including the most compact example of the Bisector yet encountered, which can neatly slice a frigate in half in one burst.

Being among the fastest capital ships available, battlecruisers were the first huge Bioficer ships encountered.

Little data is available, as most of the wreckage has been atomised and only a few broken survivors are left, perhaps deliberately, to spread the terror. So far, they have been highly focused designs built around lethality coupled with awesome speed for such massive ships.

Several are essentially flying guns, packing a single, dreadnought-grade weapon like the devastating Decon Annihilator or the Hyper Light Vice. Another variant is the Bioficer’s only known dedicated fleet carrier. However, at this early stage, most expect fresh horrors to hurtle from the void and deal death.

PHR

A tiny portion of humanity turned its back on mankind in the waning days of the last Golden Age. Over one and a half centuries later, the PHR have emerged from the shadows as an unrecognisable civilisation, its people irrevocably changed. They are no longer simple human beings, they are post-humans - cyborgs.

A society no more than three billion strong, the PHR is a nation of elites, each individual more than a match for several lesser mortals. With remarkable speed, they have made technological advancements surpassing those of the UCM. Since its fiery birth, the PHR have been guided by the enigmatic White Sphere, a mysterious object of immense power. It is treated by the people of the PHR with a reverence bordering on worship.

The supremely tough PHR fleet delivers superlative firepower through massed weapon broadsides, producing a maximum damage output unmatched by other races. However, their limited fire arcs require a skilful hand at the helm to unleash a punishing double salvo.

PHR vessels of light tonnage are highly advanced, resilient killers. Some, like the Ariadne, Castor, and Echo, are focused gun platforms built to excel and survive in a specific tactical position, be that defensive or offensive. Others though are specialists which offer unique and useful capabilities. The Ourania exists solely to assist the fleet in targeting, and the Pollux is a dedicated escort.

Others, such as the Jason and Odysseus blockade runners, offer combat speeds far exceeding most PHR ships to penetrate any defence early in an engagement or to react with lightning force. PHR cutters are especially fast and can even outrun most Shaltari ships.

The fearsome Agamemnon class battlecruiser features a double-decker, full length mixed mass driver broadside with the potential to lay waste to multiple foes with imperious ease. However, the class lacks any meaningful firepower on the front quarter, making it best employed in the heart of an engagement.

The Priam variant is often tasked with destroying large groups of enemy light vessels and merchant shipping, making its role closer to that of traditional battlecruisers. It is equipped with an extensive light calibre broadside and cavernous launch bays the equal of a Bellerophon heavy carrier.

The Agrippa is an unusual vessel. Its offensive capacity is small, but its Holographic Drones can be utilised in a primarily defensive role to generate Debris Fields to disrupt enemy movements and weapons targeting, screening friendly formations. The Pompeius is a focused, aggressive ship killer which packs a forward mounted quad battery of dreadnought-grade mass drivers. This makes it best unleased against a single victim, unlike most PHR warships.

Resistance

After humanity was almost annihilated they left Earth and the Cradle Worlds behind. But that wasn’t all that they left. Survivors of the Scourge invasion, Remnants of battles with Abandonists, and all those others that fell through the cracks were left for dead by the newly formed UCM.

Now, 160 years later, the survivors have banded together to form the Resistance, campaigning for freedom from alien invasion and from an overbearing government that deserted them. Taking to the skies in whatever ships they can cobble together, their time in the void has left the Resistance out-manned and out-gunned, but has bred some of the finest Admirals in the galaxy.

This box contains the perfect beginnings of a Resistance Fleet. With three Resistance Cruisers and four Resistance Frigates, your fleet can be built as the strict Kalium Kabal, the junkers of Vega Scrapfleet, or any group of Resistance in between! The ships in this set can be constructed in a myriad of ways, with each one different if you wish, all the better to show the various different types of Admiral that make up the eclectic Resistance Fleet.

With dozens of weapon and equipment options, the Resistance Fleet is perfect for a Commander looking for complete versatility in their Dropfleet Commander games.

The Resistance employs a huge variety of light tonnage vessels, and many offer unique capabilities not seen in capital ships. Some, such as the Aldrin colony ship, are among the oldest vessels still operating anywhere, proving their endurance. The Newton and Galileo monitors were once lynchpins of orbital defence lines, and they still excel in that role.

Their opposites, the Sagittarii and Baleares cutters, are among the fastest ships available to the Resistance admirals and offer impressive first strike capabilities. Also, being improvised forces, merchantmen inherited by the Resistance are often jerry-rigged to carry swarms of remote-operated fire ships.

The Senator was classified at the time of the Scourge invasion and for good reason. Armed with deadly VX nerve agent torpedoes, the class was an affront to many EAA government cornerstones. The Triumvir has been one of the most valued ships to the Resistance since escaping the Scourge invasion.

Shipyards mostly being a lost luxury, any repairs had to be run in the void with the help of other ships - the Triumvir’s specialty. The Phalanx is armed with long broadsides of transition mass drivers and four Titanmetall 9K mass drivers in two traversable turrets. In combination, the class can unleash withering fire against multiple targets, given the right positioning.

The Tribune’s firepower comes from two conventional artillery cannon turrets and an increased close action capability, as well as a single mass driver turret. However - unusually for a full combat ship of this size - it features capacity for bulk landers and a flight deck, making it a fleet carrier as well. In combination, the Tribune is a jack of all trades, able to adapt to fluid combat situations better than most ships.

Scourge

The alien Scourge arrived on Earth with very little warning some 160 years previous. Within hours they had overwhelmed humanity’s defences and were well on their way to enslaving all of mankind with Scourge parasites implanted into their brains. With devastating plasma weaponry and lightning fast tactics, the defenders had little chance to counter.

Their ships are faster than almost any encountered, relying on searing oculus beams and deadly close action weaponry to eradicate any opponents before subjugating the remaining survivors. Silent and utterly alien, a human fleet can be deep within a Scourge trap before even realising they’re under attack.

This box contains the perfect beginnings of a Scourge Fleet. With three Scourge Cruisers and four Scourge Frigates, you get a balanced force able to deal with most incoming threats - especially the well-armoured ones! The Cruisers in this set can be constructed in a number of ways, from the oculus-heavy Shenlong to the fleet carrying Hydra or the Chimera with its bulk landers. Even the Frigates come in five varieties. With poseable tendrils on rotating mounts, no two ships in your fleet need look the same.

Scourge ships of light tonnage are some of the fastest combatants in theatre and frequently pack a punch beyond their size. Packs of these slippery killers are rightly feared by experienced opponents, often above the more obvious might of capital ships.

Most excel at a particular brand of lethality but some offer specialist capabilities unique to them, such as the Parasite’s energy siphon or Hiruko’s direct and terrifying boarding capabilities.

The Akuma class features a potent cloaking tailfin to mask this lethal killer’s approach. It can then unleash its considerable oculus-based firepower or manoeuvre violently with no negative consequences.

The Shadow’s Magnetron Lash makes it a close-range, hyper-aggressive executioner, combining multiple abilities to deadly effect. This is in addition to the already lethal Plasma Tempest equipped by several other Scourge battlecruisers.

The Umbra is best employed in a rear-guard support role. Its Oculus Booster enhances the scalding potency of friendly ship’s oculus weapons, making this vessel a true force multiplier when cunningly positioned. The Banshee also employs the cloaking tailfin of its sister class the Akuma, but favours enhanced close-ranged firepower. It also harbours two massive torpedoes poised to blast a vast chunk from any ship’s hull before injecting swarms of nightmarish Razorworms into the wound.

Shaltari

The Shaltari are an ancient and highly developed species. Their technology is advanced to a level of sophistication rivalled only by its potency. They have traversed the stars for millennia, learned myriad truths, and have fought countless wars. Through their knowledge, the Shaltari transcend even death itself, and can endure indefinitely, perceiving the ebb and flow of time like no other race.

In battle, the Shaltari are fearsome adversaries. Their swiftness is unmatched, their firepower spectacular, their bravery undeniable. The beauty of their vessels belies their true nature; engines of death, honed to lethal perfection long before humanity learned to throw stones. They are peerless masters of technology.

The Shaltari fleet is a finely balanced blade poised to cut to the heart of any foe. Their gunnery skills and scanners are unrivalled, delivering death from ranges other races can only dream of. The extraordinarily advanced energy shields can be raised at will, protecting their fragile but stealthy ships from harm at the expense of visibility. Skilful captaincy and timely execution are rewarded with sublime victory.

Shaltari warfleets thrive on speed, reflexes, and hyper-advanced firepower. Their light tonnage vessels exemplify this and are among their most feared hunter-killers. Ships like the Mercury, Chromium, and Caesium are all focused little executioners. However, classes like the Selenium, Cobalt, and Helium serve to augment and reinforce the Shaltari’s voidgate network, adding priceless tactical utility.

Still others specialise in the most eldritch forms of offense such as the Gallium bio-hazard cutter. Lastly, the dreaded Glass Cloudflier is among the fastest atmospheric-capable ships yet encountered.

The Ruby class battlecruiser is a highly potent vessel designed for maximum firepower in a fast, sleek package. It is an excellent interdiction vessel, superlative in the arts of flanking sweeps and the annihilation of enemy supply convoys behind the lines.

The Sapphire class is a more specialised vessel conceived for disruption and close-range engagements. Its pair of ion storm generator banks can inflict crippling anti-shipping damage with the option for use in the orbital bombardment role. Additionally, its pair of gravity coils can hurl enemy ships off course.

The Goethite offers a useful a mixture of eldritch weaponry and launch capability. Its twin Hyperwave Cannons provide extreme firepower with lingering effect, allowing this technological marvel to slip away and on to the next victim before its prey dies. The Hematite is, for the Shaltari, an unsubtle and focused sledgehammer. Its single main armament, a quad battery of Thermal Lance Cannons, can focus a beam of incandesc

UCM

It is 2679, and war rages on a Galactic scale. After almost a decade on the offensive against the vile alien Scourge, the United Colonies of Mankind is battle-scarred but unbroken. Its Reconquest, a grand endeavour to reclaim its heartlands and Earth itself, hangs in the balance.

A mighty new generation of utilitarian warships and vengeful soldiers rush to the frontlines, but the UCM’s alliances with other human factions are crumbling, the parasites are fighting back viciously, and a new threat has emerged. The mighty UCMF must respond, or humanity is doomed.

Within the mighty UCMF, ships of light tonnage contribute the largest numbers and the greatest tactical flexibility. These mainstays come in dozens of classes such as the Rekyavik, a fast and lethal hunter, to the Vienna, a tough defender.

Many offer unique and useful capabilities such as the Lysander which specialises in stealth or the Santiago’s atmospheric strike power. Most are specialist vessels that excel at certain missions while offering the economy and evasiveness that comes with their compact size.

The Venice class is a purpose-built light command ship. In lieu of firepower, its extensive antenna array and optical suite enhances the command and control capabilities of its staff, making it one of the most suitable vessels for any tactically prudent admiral.

The Rome’s cavernous launch tubes berth two capital ship-killing heavy torpedoes. Aiding it in its charge into launch range is an array of point defence lasers exceeding anything one might expect even for a ship of its size.

The Perth class favours an enormous Viper super-heavy anti-ship laser, one of the largest weapons ever to be mounted to a UCM vessel. The massive generators and power storage facilities needed to feed this beast precludes the launch bays featured in the Johannesburg, although the Perth compensates by doubling the UF-4200 mass driver armament of its sister class.

The Johannesburg class was designed around an entirely new hull created for the specific requirements of battlecruisers. Its primary armament is a pair of huge quad UF-6400 mass driver turrets, a more potent array of this calibre than a Beijing class battleship. It also features launch capacity equivalent to a Seattle class Fleet Carrier.
